Monty has an exceptional knowledge base, very high standards, but is still fun, incredibly approachable, and puts in the time to work with you to help you meet those standards. Everything you could want in an instructor. Incredibly social and laid back community environment in the shop as well - still while promoting high quality standards.

This review is specifically for the tech operation and Monty. Read my other review for Coconut tree (the recreational dive op)nnMonty was an amazing teacher and honestly, a great person to spend time with. Tech classes aren't short so you will spend a lot of time with your instructor.nnIt's been about 6 months since our classes. As we've gotten more experience, my appreciation of Monty as a teacher, his attention to detail, and excellent equipment has continued to grow.nnMonty was very helpful getting everything scheduled over Whatsapp before our trip.nnWe decided (with Monty's input) to go the TDI tech route. We took TDI Sidemount, Advanced Nitrox, and Decompression Procedures. IIRC it was around 10 days for the three classes. Which ended up being really good pacing. Not too fast, not too slow.nnThere's really nothing bad I can say about Monty's teaching or the equipment we used in the class. Monty really has the student gear dialed in. Once you try some other gear after your class, you'll be missing Monty's thoughtful choices in gear.nnWe left Roatan with an excellent foundation, a clear understanding of our own skills, and the confidence to keep moving forward.nnMonty and Roatan Tec are at the top of my list for any future tech classes.

Monty and his crew are above board in every way. Monty excels in his in depth knowledge of TEC Diving on every level and provides exceptional instruction from the novice to the experienced. The equipment condition is excellent and well maintained. Pricing is very good especially if you take the package courses. Whether you want to sidemount or all the way to TriMix, or want to just dive, Roatan TEC Center is the place!!

I've been diving for over 25 years. It's rare that I'm truly impressed by a dive operation, and it was on a whim that I met up with a friend to get some certifications here. The Roatan Tec Center is phenomenal! The instruction that Monty gives is second to none. He will put you through your paces and make sure you earn any Tech Certification.

As a diver of about ten years now, nothing is as calm and serene as Roatan's costal reef system. That said, both the Roatan Rec Center and Coconut Tree Divers provide the best experience and training that I've had. To the extent that I have done my sidemount and other TDI tech courses as well as my IDC with coconut tree divers.nnHighly recommend both training and fun dives with this group. Monty and his tec team do a fantastic job of training you to be able to handle any situation that may arise while making you confident to be able to dive anywhere in the world.
