Perfect, quiet location away from the tourist zones. I stayed here for one night after flying into Roatan to catch the ferry to Utila. While I had done this before and knew how to arrange taxis, ferry services and such they arranged those things for me and at cheaper price, which made things so much smoother for me. The owner and her son were so kind and hospitable. They gave me so info on visa processes and even suggest a good lawyer in Tegucigalpa to help if I needed it in the future. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Roatan Backpackers HostelnnWe had an absolutely amazing time at this hostel. This was our first hostel stay, and we did not quite know what to expect.nMel (the owner) has done a great job creating a comfortable space that quickly felt like home.nOur room was nice and clean. The communal kitchen was functional for our needs—when others followed basic rules.nCheck-in was easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The girl who checked us in did a good job showing us around and telling us about the various amenities there.nMel is a great conversationalist, and a fountain of knowledge of where to go, what to do, and how to get there.nWe met a wide variety of people from all over the world, with various interests and travel plans.nEasy walk to the grocery store and great local food nearby. Snorkeling, sitting on the beach, and visiting the various little towns around the island made for a relaxing and fun time.nWhenever we are back in Roatan, we would not hesitate to stay at this hostel.

Stayed here as a solo female traveler and felt super safe! The staff were all so friendly and accommodating, even letting me stay and use the hostel facilities (pool etc.) after my check out while I waited for my ferry. Very clean and comfortable rooms! Loved my stay here!

I am super pleased with this hostel. The rooms are charming, the staff friendly, the atmosphere welcoming. The gardens are beautiful, the pool is the perfect refresher mid day. I've enjoyed the proximity to the grocery store and the ease with which to reach west end. I've enjoyed all of my interactions with fellow guests. I simply do not have one single complaint except that I cannot live here forever. But, reality is calling. That being said, my next vacation will likely be exactly the same one. I would return here in a heartbeat. Mel has created truly something special here. It shows and you can feel it. Thank you Mel.

I spent the first leg of my trip at Roatan Backpackers and was so glad I did! The owner, Mel, is incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help me with my journey. I was lucky enough to enjoy her company my first evening in the country along with her very affectionate puppy. The hostel is very beautiful and well maintained and has plenty of different spots to hangout and read a book or socialize with other guests. I would 100% recommend this to anyone staying on the island.
