My experience at Anthony's Key Resort is a little different from most. I had spent a week scuba diving at another resort on Roatan and was at the airport ready to fly home when I was stricken with sudden onset of nausea and dizziness. So, I skipped the flight and booked a room at Anthony's Key Resort in order to see with the onsite doctor the next morning. Although it was very last minute, the reception staff went out of their way to find me the best bungalow on the small island where most guests stay. By evening, I felt so sick and dizzy that I struggled to make my way to my bungalow alone, but one of the managers, Yolanda, generously escorted me there and had one of the staff bring me a pitcher of water for my room. The next day, the onsite doctor told me I had inner ear inflammation and should not fly for 72 hours. Again, the kind reception staff found room for me despite the short notice. During the course of my stay, the staff at the doctor's office, the restaurant, and the staff who shuttle guests back and forth among the little islands of the resort all became familiar with me and my circumstances and kindly checked in with me each day to see how I was feeling. Their hospitality and warmth was incredible! Although my friends and family worried about my being ill on my own in a foreign country, I assured them that I felt very supported and cared for by everyone at the resort.nnI couldn't scuba dive, of course, so I can't comment on what is probably Anthony's Key most famous offering. However, I amused myself well by exploring the beautiful resort, including the clubhouse/bar where they had family games, swinging chairs, and live music, the dolphins that are used for study and therapy, and the onsite cultural museum of Honduras. I was even invited to sit in on the educational seminars for a visiting university group. Despite my health issues, my experience at Anthony's Key Resort could not have been better! I can't recommend this place enough, and I can't wait to return for a longer visit for my next scuba diving trip!

I have been going to AKR since I was 9 years old all the way back in 2000. They renovated the entire restaurant going from an outdoor experience to an indoor master piece. In addition to their support for the marine ecosystem with the Dolphin institute, they value us as quests making you feel truly special. Their staff are incredible and even send their staff to college! I got the pleasure of meeting the owner last week and the man is just as amazing as everything the resort has to offer. For divers this place is truly geared towards your dive experience with additional certifications you can get once there. I will never go anywhere else other than AKR!

They say you learn the most about a resort when things don't go according to plan. Between a rainy start and a cancelled flight home due to DFW weather, our Roatan trip could have been a bust. Instead, the team at Anthony’s Key Resort turned it into a highlight.nnFrom the dive masters busing us across the island to find clear water, to the front office upgrading us to a Key Deluxe room during our travel delay, their hospitality was world-class. They even allowed us to dive for three extra days to make up for the time lost to the weather.nnI also have to mention the dining. I knew going in that they didn't serve the typical buffet style, and I’ll admit I was initially worried about missing that variety. Those worries were completely unfounded. In 25 years of diving, this is some of the best food and service I’ve ever experienced. The portions were beyond my ability to finish (and believe me, I tried!), and the menu variety was excellent.nnAnthony's Key now holds a special place in our hearts—not just for the beautiful dives, but for how they treated us like family. Michele and I will definitely be back!

This is an amazing place to stay in Roatan. It has a very unique location. Half the rooms are on a small sandy island the other half is in a rain forest on a hill. Both are beautiful. It has everything, a nice pool, a private beach, restaurant bar. The diving infrastructure and logistics is top notch. When we come back to Roatan we want to stay here again. It’s a gem!

My husband and I are not divers, which was a surprise to staff and guests, since apparently that’s why most visit the resort. It made days even better in our opinion because that meant fewer guests around the beach and pool. We enjoyed the quiet relaxation, the spa, the gorgeous views from room 31. The staff were spectacular, and the resort accommodated us without notice for an extra night after flights home were cancelled. We did get out for a snorkel and that was a wonderful experience.nnWe highly recommend AKR.
